Why do you refer to yourself as the church boy?
I was inspired to do a song that described what my life had become now that I was in Christ and that’s how church boy came up. At that time, I had my friend Elandre from Tanzania in the country so I took him to the studio and I came up with the beat and everything and I asked him to do the rap. I kept the song to myself in the studio for 6 months and when it finally came out, it was, it is and will continue to be a soul winner/banger. I guess, that’s why everyone calls me Church Boy.
What do you think makes an artiste great and be differentiated from the rest?
Being different in all that you do puts you in your own league with little or no competition, investing more time into your craft, keeping your ear and eyes to the ground helps you know more about your business.
If you weren’t an artiste what would you be?
I would be an artiste still, I have never seen myself do anything apart from this. It’s from this that I can add every other thing that there is to do in the world.
What do you do in your free time?
Contrary to what people may want to believe, I love staying indoors listening to music, cook for myself and have friends come by my place. I once in a while visit my friends as well. Staying indoors has caused me a lot of trouble with 1 or 2 ex – girl friends, they expected me to be more outgoing than I really am.
Dinner or out with the boys for a movie, what works for you?
I am not so much of a movie person, unless it’s Tyler Perry, a musical, African – American, Jamaican Movie but I would prefer screaming, laughing my lungs out with the boys. These are my musician friends.
When did you discover that you wanted to take on music as a career and who helped you shape this career?
I discovered my call to music 10 years ago in 2003, recorded my 1st song on 10th Feb 2006 with the help of Sami – K at First Love Studios. I can never forget that day because I didn’t sleep the night before because I was super excited. Sami – K has played a major role in my music and I will forever be grateful to God for him.
What’s your dream car & why?
Well I don’t want to think I know what my dream car is now because I would be limiting myself but I guess for now I will have to have a BMW, Range Sport, Audi, Benz in my collection alongside my private jet.
Why did you choose to do gospel music?
Music is character, most of the time, the kind of music we do speaks a lot about who we are because even the bible says out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh!!! So I am a Born Again Christian whose call on Life is to lift up Jesus’ name with all the talents and ability that God placed in my life and what better way to do it than through gospel music.
I didn’t choose gospel music, gospel music chose me, ha ha ha.
What inspired you to sing the Topowa game track & did you write it?
Topowa Game translated means don’t give up the game literally which is a song I wrote at a time when all that was around me suggested that I give up. Friends forsook me, told me my Jesus steez won’t take me nowhere, girl friend chucked me and pretty much every wrong thing happened at the same time. It was a very hard time and so when I looked to the heavens the spirit of God inspired me to write that song which I took the shortest time to write but when I went to record it in the studio it didn’t come out the way I expected. It’s one song I have had to work on about 5 times in the studio and on the 6th time I called my producer friend Legend P(Lab 446) who helped me record everything from scratch. We have actually released the single and the video is on YouTube and playing on your favorite TV station. Be sure to catch it there!!
What’s your take on Ugandan’s 2013-2014 budget?
I am sorry but I am not aware of any single one thing in that budget. My Bad!!
Any final remarks?
I want to thank the one question network for coming through, am so blessed by your consideration. Shouts out to every single one person out there who supports gospel music in this country, I appreciate on behalf of all the other music ministers. Together, we are being used of God to push His music/culture into its rightful place. Am definitely working on more music and planning to do a lot more videos than before so keep me in your prayers.
To all that don’t know Christ as yet, He is the best thing that can ever happen to you and trust me you, Your life will never be the same again if you ask him in your life.
